El Paso First offers the First Steps program to expectant mothers enrolled in our health plan. First Steps make sure you receive medical services to keep you and your unborn baby healthy during your pregnancy. Our team keeps in contact with you, your doctor, pharmacies, hospitals, home health agencies, and other community agencies to make sure you receive prompt prenatal care.
We care about your health during your pregnancy and the health of your baby too. We will talk with you about any of your needs or questions. By sharing your needs with us, we will help you receive the best care for you and for your unborn baby.
The First Steps program offers:
- A nurse who helps with any pregnancy related questions
- A social worker who coordinates social services, mental health services, and provides referrals to community agencies
- A Monthly Prenatal Class/Baby Shower where we discuss:
- Medicaid and Chip Perinatal benefits
- Normal changes during pregnancy
- The stages of labor
- Newborn care
- Changes in mother’s emotions after pregnancy
- A free gift to every member who attends our Prenatal Class/Baby shower
