Q: How long does it take for an authorization
to get processed?
A: El Paso First currently has a less than 24-hour turnaround.
Allow at least four (4) business days for the Utilization Management Department
to process an authorization. First, fax the authorization to 298-7866,
then confirm receipt at 532-3778, ext. 3001. If you need a copy of the
authorization form, please contact your Provider Relations Representative
at 532-3778, ext. 7001.
Q: Does El Paso First provide transportation
for members?
A: Transportation services can be arranged for any El Paso First Health
Plan member with a 48 hour notice to our Member Services Department. If
48 hour notice is not possible, the Member Services Department will try
and arrange transportation. Transportation assistance will be provided
in the form of bus tokens, shuttle or taxi, depending on the availability
and the member’s needs. Transportation is for medical appointments
and health education programs such as our First Steps pre-natal classes.
